Bodyguard first Day collection

Long queues can be seen outside the ticket windows. Many fans face the dejection of seeing the ‘House Full’ board, while others have been scrambling to get the tickets booked in advance. As was expected, Salman Khan’s new film Bodyguard has broken all the opening day records at box office.

On Wednesday, Bodyguard raked in a humongous Rs. 20 crore, setting a new box office record for highest collection on the opening day for any Bollywood film. The film, starring Salman, Kareena Kapoor and Hazel Keech, released at 2,800 screens across India, and the first-day occupancy ranged between 85 percent to 100 percent.

The movie has got a mixed response from the critics but the masses seem to have loved it. Bodyguard has all the masala that a Salman Khan fan craves for.

The distributors will be further joyous over the fact that Thursday is a holiday in many parts of India due to Ganesh Chaturthi. That will be followed by a weekend for which tickets are selling like hot cakes. If the response continues this way, Bodyguard might also set the record for the highest grossing weekend and highest five-day collections.

So far the best opening-day collection was boasted by Dabangg (Rs 18 crore). Bodyguard also marks Salman’s third consecutive Eid superhit after Wanted (2009) and Dabangg (2010).

Well, Salman could not have asked for a better Eid gift. We wish him speedy recovery and more hits.
